About LouAnn Smith

Along with over 40 years of training and clinical experience, my greatest assets are: dedicated interest, earnest listening and a high regard for the conversation that occurs in the therapy relationship. In therapy, through active listening, reflecting and reframing- we will construct new ways of experiencing and understanding.

My style is warm and sympathetic but I will challenge you to work hard as you rediscover your path toward healing, growth and personal satisfaction.

My patients are individuals, couples and families – coming from a wide variety of backgrounds and presenting with an array of problems and symptoms. I am sensitive to the complex interplay of personal, biological and experiential variables and how these intersect with and impact our intimate relationships as well as relationships at work, with family and friends – how we bring ourselves to the world.

My training is diverse, yet grounded in developmental and psychoanalytic theory. I continue to learn new approaches and strategies and work with a range of modalities to help you move forward. I participate in a large network of professionals for consultation/referral to mental health and non-mental health services.
